Church Ceremony & Golden Hour Portraits | Canada Lodge & Lake | Ellie & Sam

Wedding Photography Blog Post by Katy Tainton

The groom leads the bride down the aisle at Ellie & Sam's Church Ceremony by Swansea Wedding Photographer Katy Tainton Photography

When I met Ellie & Sam for their pre wedding meeting and shoot, they told me about how important their church ceremony was to them. It was a full mass at the beautiful St Julian's church in Newport, where Sam practises as a Vicar. I clicked with Ellie right away, as she is, like me, of Persian descent. Ellie had loads of ideas for what she wanted from the photos of their wedding day, and I always love to hear what my couples want so she sent me some ideas she had pinned from Pinterest.

The reception was at the absolutely stunning Canada Lodge & Lake, based just outside Cardiff. The backdrop of the lake and the fern trees is to die for. We shot their portraits after the reception for the warm light as the sun was going down.

Ellie wore an off the shoulder dress with a large skirt, perfect for a bit of twirling, which I'm always partial to photographing! Her hair and classic red lip makeup look was done by the amazing Nicola Gordon-Jones and the gorgeous flowers were done by Jan Lima Flowers.
