Lizzie and Herbie's December wedding was the sort of wedding that you'd always remember as a unique and beautiful day. The couple have a background in theatre and made an incredible moon prop and backdrop - it was amazing to photograph them with it! Lizzie wore two dresses, the first being her Grandmother's wedding dress, an elegant ivory gown. The second dress from Rixo was a floaty dress with amazing feather detail that Lizzie changed into following the wedding breakfast.
They chose to get married at the beautiful Gwesty'r Emlyn hotel in Newcastle Emlyn, a venue I've been lucky to shoot on several occasions now.
Both Lizzie and Herbie got ready at the venue and so I was able to capture both sides of the story of the wedding preparations.
The ceremony was adorned with fairy lights and featured their gorgeous moon backdrop. The jewel green bridesmaid dresses were stunning in the aisle shots.
Following the ceremony, guests headed inside for warm mulled wine and elderberry fizz, then back outside for confetti and group photos. As always I like to be prepared with a list of any family photos from the couple, so that this part of the day can run smoothly and no photos with family members get forgotten.
The castle ruins at Newcastle Emlyn are a short walk away from the wedding venue, so we headed over after the family photos to capture some stunning portraits of the couple. As the wedding took place in December, the sun was already setting giving a beautiful golden glow to the images that I just adore.
The decor at this wedding was just breathtaking. The celestial theme with jewel colour accents and a cherub cake were to die for! The reception featured a singing waiter that was hilarious and very talented and some great speeches from family and the two best men.
Following the reception, Lizzie changed her dress and we headed outside to take some photos with the iconic Christmas lights of Newcastle Emlyn in the background. I love a good zebra crossing photo!
Herbie's family band provided the entertainment for the evening, and everyone got on the dancefloor with the couple to join in.
One of the highlights of this set of images for me is these photos of Lizzie and Herbie in front of their crescent moon backdrop. I added some extra golden sparkle in editing... a sprinkling of magic. So ethereal!
